In the traditional methods of
learning, the teacher follows a lesson plan. The learning process is dependent
on the methodology specified on the lesson plan. There are limited alternatives
to the teaching methods before.
Classroom observation is done by the principal or administrator as an
annual assessment. However, assessment
should be done on a regular basis to see improvements. An annual assessment might be too long an
interval to see concrete results. For an
assessment to truly reflect what is in a classroom experience, a classroom
observation should be done regularly. The findings in the classroom observation
can be immediately applied as a teaching method.
Because of the existence of modern
equipment, it is now easier to do a classroom observation. Classroom
observation can be done by recording a classroom setting. Even those who cannot
do classroom observation due to logistical limitations would be able to
understand the nuances and strategies of the teacher by looking at the videos.
With modern technology, administrator and other groups now do classroom
observation remotely. Classroom observation can be done simultaneously and
remotely. It is really easier to do the
classroom observation methods because of the advent of digital video cameras. Teachers
can also do self-assessment on their own and modify methodology by doing
classroom observation on their own videos and the videos of others. Classroom
observation through this method allows for continuous improvement. Teachers can easy adjust their methods to
what works and remove the methods that do not work.
